A Great Time Helping out the Teton Valley Community

When mid-August rolls around, that spells the beginning of the end of those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer for many folks. The sound of music in the mountains fades as the terrific festivals that abound in Teton Valley throughout July and August close up shop until next year. Maybe one more camping weekend, or two, is squeezed in before the tents and supplies are painstakingly packed up and secured in their proper place. Moms are diligently swinging through the local retail haunts picking up school supplies and trying to get the real skinny on their kid’s new teacher. How does this glorious season, a time to explore endless outdoor mountain recreation and experience new adventures, pass by so darn quickly?

Well, let’s not rush things. For those of us who refuse to give up our warm-weather outdoor pursuits without a good fight, there’s still plenty of time to play. There’s also another way to "play" this August, and this one will make you feel good on the inside and out. The Headwaters Golf Club at Teton Springs Resort is hosting the "Leon Vest Invitational Golf Tournament & Dinner" on Wednesday, August 24th. This is an annual fundraising event for the Teton Springs Foundation and what a perfect place to tee it up for charity! Enjoy a round on one of the Northern Rockies truly magnificent golf courses, all while supporting Teton Valley’s rock solid non-profits achieve their goals – which is helping others in the areas of health and human services, educations, the environment, art and culture, and sports and recreation. Non-profits are critical for any community, at any time, but it sure seems that in this particular economic climate they can literally be a life line for some residents and the community programs that serve them.
You can be a duffer like me and still have a blast at this tournament. It’s a scramble format so all pressure is off and the operative word is FUN, all while supporting a great cause. Local retailers, vendors, resort properties and golf courses have again generously dug into their own pockets so participants can expect terrific raffle prizes, and even better yet, amazing food and entertainment. Lunch, dinner and music by the ever-popular and famously fun Miller Sisters are all included in this price of admission.

  • 11:00 a.m. – Registration and Buffet Lunch
  • 1:00 p.m. Shotgun Start/Scramble Format
  • 6:00 Dinner, Awards, Raffle & Music by the Miller Sisters
  • Cost: $175 per person – Dinner only: $75

So, if so some reason you can’t swing the clubs on August 24th, at least come join the group for dinner and music and the opportunity to support one of Idaho’s greatest communities!
Regardless of how many fairways you hit and putts you sink, this day promises to deliver one of the best golf games you’ll ever play, and for some many people. Call Lisa Smith-Batchen for more information on the Leon Vest Invitational @ 208-787-8146 or lisa@tetonsprings.com

Here’s how you’ll be helping the Teton Springs Foundation

Founded by the original owners and developers of the Teton Springs Resort, the Teton Springs Foundation has been contributing to the Teton Valley Community since 2001.

The Foundation is a recognized 501c3 that carries out its mission of enhancing the quality of life for valley residents by awarding semi-annual grants to local nonprofits. Funded primarily by proceeds from real estate sales within the resort, the Foundation is governed by a 7 person board made up of local community members.

To date more than 30 area non-profits have shared grants totaling more than $750,000!
