Powder is Added to the Menu for This Year’s Turkey Day

Posted by admin in Grand Tetons Lodging, Headwaters Grille, Heli Skiing, Teton Valley Events on November 15th, 2013 2:30 pm

Why does it take approaching the holiday season for us to ponder all that we’re grateful for? Living in Teton Valley in itself is a constant reminder of how fortunate we are. I was particularly reminded of this on a recent trip to California. When people I met along the way asked where I was from, almost everyone I encountered knew or has heard of the Yellowstone-Teton area. Some even seemed to be in awe that I actually lived here. It only served to remind me, once again, how lucky we are to wake each morning to the true splendor that surrounds us. As the holiday season approaches, we all need to give thanks for our family, friends, health and peace on this planet we all share. We also can’t help but to give a nod to the snow gods that year after year blanket this landscape with nature’s finest, in this wondrous place we call home.

Grand Targhee Resort – The Summit of Fred’s Mountain

You know you’re in the right place when your neighborhood ski area is Grand Targhee Resort! Perhaps not as well known as the Tetons themselves, Targhee has survived the test of time in grand style. This Wyoming gem celebrates its 45th birthday this ski season. That’s almost a half century of providing what many consider to be the best turns in the Northern Rockies, and most assuredly, the most spectacular scenery.

When you reach the summit of Fred’s Mountain with the Tetons in full view, you’ll be compelled to ask yourself, why go anywhere else. While quaint and unassuming, with a rather small base area by current mega resort standards (that’s a good thing!), the snow is undoubtedly and consistently the best in the west. And, on most days you’ll have lots of acreage to call your own. Graced with wide-open slopes and plenty of powder stashes long after the last storm has passed, Grand Targhee is a secret we reluctantly share.

Thanksgiving and Fall/Winter Get-Away Packages

Teton Springs Lodge & Spa, a place many call the heart of Teton Valley, show their appreciation for guests every November with their Thanksgiving Escape Package. You only have to pay for two nights and the third night is on them. Just another way this special place demonstrates the spirit of giving back to their guests. This generous offering is available in the hotel’s lodge rooms and suites and 3, 4 and 5 bedroom luxury mountain log homes that grace the perimeter of this 780 acre resort. Grand Targhee is slated to open their door to the adoring public on November 22.

Relax After a Day of Fun and Excitement at Stillwaters Spa & Salon

The Stillwaters Spa & Salon therapists are standing at alert to help manage those early ski season muscle aches and pains, and, you’ll only pay for a 60 minute massage and they stop at 90. November 30 spells the end of this special, so again, some urgency is called for. There’s also a Yoga/massage combo special going on now thru December 25 that’s worth checking out, bring your friends!

Eat Like a King, Fantasy Football, Clams, Lasagna, Yummy!

If cooking up a traditional turkey dinner is a priority, I wouldn’t delay in booking a Teton Springs Lodge suite or cabin. And they make it easy; these accommodations have all the kitchen tools you will need. Just bring the bird! The Headwaters Grille at Teton Springs offers a scrumptious Thanksgiving turkey for those who would prefer slope time to KP duty. Guests can also indulge in their Fantasy Football obsession at the Grille every Sunday, together with food & beverage specials.

They’re constantly mixing it up at the Headwaters Grille, (operating during the winter season on Thursday thru Saturdays) and Chef Jordan has just announced a roll out of new Italian dinners including Clam Fettuccini, Stacked Lasagna, Spaghetti and Grand Meatballs. Of course, special Italian wines have been added to the menu to complete this culinary experience.

Winter Activities in the Teton Valley

Another noteworthy event to put on calendars is the Holiday art Show at Teton Springs slated for Saturday, December 7th. It’s a fun-filled day where local artisans showcase their latest art & Jewry, kids create their own Christmas tree ornaments and Old Saint Nick makes an appearance to hear the latest wishes from kids of all ages. The Stillwaters Spa gets into the game with free paraffin hand wax treatments and a chance to win a luxurious Spa Gift Basket. Both naughty and nice can enter to win. It’s all part of the City of Victor’s annual Festival and Light Parade and should be on everyone’s calendar. Happy Holidays from your friends at Teton Springs!

Engage All Senses at Teton Springs Resort

Posted by admin in General, Grand Teton Lodging, Skiing Packages, Vacation Packages on October 29th, 2013 1:44 pm

Eat, drink and be healthy it’s time to engage all senses at Teton Springs Resort!

I was able to wear shorts on my walk yesterday. Go figure. But who’s complaining? The Idaho ski packages being touted as some of the best out there by the state’s tourism office will click in soon enough at Teton Springs Lodge & Spa! Winter weather will arrive this week and a new season begins.

Now is the time to savor the waning days of October and prepare for winter’s onset. It time to gather wood and batten down the hatches; it’s predicted to be a great snow year. We’ve had a good run, no, a great run. Teton Springs Lodge & Spa lodging guests were just treated to an extra week of golfing on the Headwaters Course which is now put to bed. Soon cross country skiers will be gliding on the fairways.

It’s also time to think about what kind of physical shape we’re in so when the snow does fly, we’re ready for the serious snow sliding Teton Valley skiers and snowboarders have easy access to. For some that may mean a ski conditioning class or extra time on the yoga mat. Dry land ski training is also another great way to get in shape for everything winter will throw at us. I’ve watched people cruise around the Teton Springs Resort community with their skis on wheels and I have to wonder how an activity that can whip you into such great shape can look like so much fun. Personally, I would rather get in shape with a series of regular massages at the Stillwaters Spa.

The benefits of massage are obvious. While many consider massage therapy just a glorified way of indulging ourselves in one of life’s greatest pleasures, the benefits of massage on our physical and mental well being are real and well documented. I don’t normally allow myself the luxury of a massage but after nursing a very sore back for weeks, I decided it was time for the exerts to work their magic. I scheduled a therapeutic/deep tissue massage at the Stillwaters Spa.

Now thru the end of November the nice folks at the spa will also extend your massage, like they did mine, from 60 to 90 minutes at no extra cost. I’ve always heard rave reviews about all of the therapists at Stillwaters, but now speaking from personal experience, Angela should be named to the Spa USA All Star Team! This woman’s solid background and years as a massage therapist was evident from the get go. Angela is strong, intuitive and truly listens to her clients; with each passing minute (thank goodness there were 90 of them!), I could feel whatever chronic muscle tension I had build up start to evaporate. Angela also added into the massage a few of the essential therapeutic doTERRA oils Stillwaters now has in their arsenal of personal wellness products. The different smells were truly a “gift of the earth,” which is what the name doTERRA means in Latin. The health benefits of doTERRA have been touted for years. Glad I finally listened.

Now with a fresh spring in my step, it was time to indulge that other very important sense, that of taste. For me that usually means enjoying good food with friends at the Headwaters Grille.

Overlooking the first fairway of the Headwaters golf course, the Grille could very well be the perfect watering hole. It’s got a warm and cozy vibe and Chef Jordan is always serving up something tasty. And, back by popular demand, starting October 31, they’re dishing up a special that will suite everyone’s taste, two for the price of one entree.

The Headwaters Grille has switched to their fall/winter schedule so make sure you plan on a Thursday thru Saturday visit. Sundays they feature the NFL SUNDAY TICKET to satisfy the need for football, all day and all teams. From 11 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. you can watch your favorite squad toss the pigskin in style while enjoying time-honored game day snacks. If it’s Sunday, it’s Headwaters!

So, let’s have November be, if even unofficially, embrace your senses month. Take in the visual beauty of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest from the deck of a luxury mountain log home at Teton Springs, and if you really listen, you’re likely to hear the distinct sound of an elk bugling deep in the woods.

Feel an overwhelming sense of well-being envelop your entire body with a signature massage at the Stillwaters Spa & Salon and absorb the delicious lavender scent with an organic facial treatment. Last but certainly not least, treat your palate with a night out at the Headwaters Grille.

So, start this winter season off right by taking care of you! Call Teton Springs Lodge & Spa at 877.787.8757 for a visit guaranteed to awaken all senses.
