Sliding Into March with Style at Teton Springs

Posted by admin in General on February 27th, 2014 12:05 pm

It seems as if Teton Springs Resort is constantly being recognized for something. Receiving the “Best Hotel in Idaho” designation by U.S. News & World Report, for the third consecutive year I may add, was the latest and greatest. Great food is another thing putting Teton Springs on the map these days, especially since Chef Rick Sordahl opened the Range at Teton Springs. Rick, a highly touted chef who enjoys national recognition, took over the reins of the resort’s food and beverage division in January. Local residents, hotel guests, Headwaters Club members, you name it, they’re coming in droves to sample Rick’s intriguing dishes. With Rick’s food, you recognize instantly, passion is always one of the main ingredients.

Relaxing and Fun Winter/Spring Get-Away Packages

So, it makes perfect sense that the Lodge just announced a new Dine & Lodge Package certain to delight the region’s foodies, and really, optimum for anyone simply looking for that quick getaway. Included: one night in a deluxe one bedroom suite, dinner for two at the Range and Day Spa Passes for two, valid now through the end of March. Call the Guest Services staff for details on this and other Winter/Spring Vacation and Get-away Packages.

The most hyped season in Yellowstone-Teton country is naturally summer. Scores of international and domestic travelers excitedly step off the plane in Jackson Hole or Idaho Falls to experience the Wild West up close and personal. For first time visitors, it presents the opportunity to see for themselves what the early1800s mountain men & explorers, Jedediah Smith and John Colter, found so darn intriguing. However, winter (and early spring) is the season of choice for many as they make their annual trek to Teton Springs Lodge & Spa. We applaud their brilliance.

The Best Snow in the West

Flanked by the Teton and Big Hole Mountains, Teton Springs Resort guests can head in virtually any direction and be wowed. There are so many options, and, so much snow. It’s the place to be if one wishes to indulge in the best lift served skiing and riding in the Northern Rockies. In addition to their copious amounts of snow, Grand Targhee was recently named one of the most scenic ski resorts in North America by USA Today.

Or, you can cruise the high ridge lines on snowmobile, soak in area hot springs, and board a helicopter for all-day powder shots.

Or, and this a totally viable option, simply stay put in Teton Springs luxury accommodations and stray no further than the Stillwater Spa & Salon.

The Ski & Stay, Stay & Heli, Stay & Pamper Package options guarantee something for everyone and the folks at Teton Springs are not afraid to mix it all up to make you happy.

Relax at Stillwaters Spa

The Stillwaters Spa is located on the first floor of the lodge, making it easy for guests to don one of the hotel’s thick, comfy robes, and head to this oasis of infinite sensations. As much as we all appreciate a good back rub from a friend or loved one, sometimes only the trained hands of a pro will do the job.

Besides the fact that a massage is virtually a slice of heaven, a growing body of evidence, way beyond strictly anecdotal evidence, is strongly suggesting that a good massage has varied health benefits. How much better can the news be; now we all have more of an official reason to have more massages – it’s doctors orders!

Anyone who has had a great massage will indeed testify to both the positive physical and mental ramifications, and I’m personally willing to skimp on just about everything else to get my muscles regularly kneaded & untangled. The Stillwaters Spa has absolutely the best therapists on staff, each with their own unique area of expertise. In fact, I find it impossible to request a specific massage therapist from Stillwaters; they’re all simply grand. The spa is also creative when it comes to mix and match packages; you can always find a cost-saving combo special on treatments and products. And, for that occasion when we need to look particularly amazing, schedule a make-up session, facial, or hair cut with Nicole, Jill or Julie. Any winter blahs simply melt away………………

March in Teton Valley….in like a lion, out like a bigger lion. Enjoy the powder turns and other resort goodies.

Sweetheart Deals Abound at the Best Hotel In Idaho

Posted by admin in The Range, Valentines Day on February 10th, 2014 5:12 pm

It’s hard to imagine that there’s a better time to visit Teton Springs Lodge & Spa than right now. Many would argue a summer visit is the premier time to book a stay here in Yellowstone-Teton country, and it would be tough to argue with that. Guests staying at the lodge, or in one of the luxurious mountain log homes, with the splendor of summer season in full bloom, often find themselves facing the dilemma of what to do next.

You wouldn’t think it possible but there is indeed almost too much to do on any given day. Eastern Idaho weather in June through September is typically stellar, with warm days topped off by cool lovely evenings. Teton Springs guests welcoming the day in this sun splashed valley, inevitably wonder if today is the day to snag that trophy brown trout on the South Fork of the Snake River but maybe you opt for a round of golf on the resort’s spectacular Headwaters Course. Or, it could be a day trek to capture the splendor of wildlife in their natural surroundings in nearby Grand Teton National Park. If you’re a music lover, you’ll be lured to the mountain-side concerts at Grand Targhee or an evening of “Music on Main,” Teton Valley’s own summer concert series. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg on the local and regional attractions available here, with the towering Tetons as a constant companion.

Oh, but I do digress. I still say the absolute best time to visit is now, especially if one is seduced by this Northern Rocky Mountain destination that can legitimately lay claim to having the top snow conditions in the country, year after year.

It’s not only the snow that is often touted as the best in North America; Teton Springs Lodge & Spa was recently named the “Best Hotel in Idaho,” for the third straight year by U.S. News & World Report. When one considers the quality of resort hotels in the Gem State, this honor truly strikes a chord. “Our entire team at Teton Springs Lodge & Spa is beyond thrilled to receive this recognition for the second consecutive year,” says Jeff Naylor, General Manager of this Victor, Idaho boutique hotel. “It speaks volumes about the entire staff’s unwavering commitment to the guest and the quality of our property,” continued Naylor. Couldn’t have said it better myself Mr. Naylor; everything about this place is top-shelf.

VALENTINE’S DAY – SO MUCH MORE BUT CHOCOLATE TOO… What is even more staggering, given the current snow conditions here, is that the gracious folks at Teton Springs continue to offer some incredible winter deals for Stay & Ski packages, and, complete indulgence at the resort’s full service Stillwaters Spa. Sweethearts will delight in a romantic stay at the lodge at a special rate, with the perfect companion piece just steps away at the spa. A delightful 60 minute Deep Tissue or Combo Deep Tissue & Swedish Massage, enjoyed side-by-side in the two-person therapy suite with fireplace, complete with complimentary champagne & chocolate, all for just $100 per person! You’ll need to call the nice folks at Teton Springs to swing this deal!

LOVE IS IN THE AIR AT THE INTIMATE RANGE…. The Range is also feeling the romance in the air, and Chef Rick Sordahl will certainly delight guests with his three course dining experience at Teton Springs on February 14. Rick has been working his creative magic to rave reviews since the Range grand opening in January. His culinary skills, coupled with the warm atmosphere of the Range, will certainly intrigue your senses and your palate.

Chef Sordahl is building a quick reputation for treating guests to well-executed and beautifully presented meals. For a special menu created just for Valentine’s Day, guests will have their choice of Veal Oscar, Double-R Ranch Filet of Beef, Sea Scallops or Scottish Salmon. Bubbly will be served compliments of the Range. Teton Valley’s newest restaurant will definitely be the hot ticket in town this week so reservations are a must (208.787.8130).

FREE NIGHT LODGING! Some of the best Winter get-away packages for skiing, snowboarding and much more. The stellar snow conditions in our very own Teton Mountains rival the best in the Rockies. Still, Teton Springs insists on throwing caution to the wind with their crazy winter packages that throw in a free night at the lodge, or in one of their luxury mountain log homes, when you commit to a two or three night say. This FREE NIGHT special is valid for the rest of the winter season including President’s Weekend and during popular Spring Break getaways. Can’t imagine there’s a more perfect time to book that buddy trip to play in the powder at Grand Targhee, or, to savor the ultimate backcountry ski and snowboard experience with High Mountain Heli Skiing.

Delicious and Irresistible – The Range at Teton Springs Resort

Posted by admin in Teton Valley Dining, Victor Idaho Restaurants on January 24th, 2014 4:37 pm

Excitement is in the air at Teton Springs Resort! It’s the kind of exhilaration that comes with unveiling something new and dynamic. In this case, it’s the beginning of a new era in the culinary experience at this all-season, full-service destination. No doubt Teton Springs definitely raised the bar for everything that followed in Teton Valley. It appears that the tradition for quality continues, as it has recently been announced that nationally recognized Executive Chef Rick Sordahl has taken over the reins of the food and beverage department at Teton Springs. Under Rick’s tutelage, club members, local residents and destination guests alike will immediately notice a new look and feel at the Range, formerly the Headwaters Grille. New décor aside, what will truly thrill Range patrons is the fusion of great food and warm friendly service that promise to define the dining experience at this establishment.

Everyone loves good food, even folks who don’t necessarily have a highly sophisticated palate, like yours truly. Honestly, it’s a coup having the opportunity to sample cuisine prepared by a chef of Rick’s caliber, right here in our humble Victor, Idaho neighborhood. For the past few years, Chef Sordahl was the Executive Chef at the ultra deluxe Amangani Resort in Jackson Hole, and prior, enjoyed stints at some of the country’s most prominent resorts. Rick has also enjoyed recognition from the James Beard Foundation in New York, which just happens to be the highest honor bestowed on food and beverage professionals in North America.

Chef Sordahl and the Range will surely compliment the Teton Springs resort team and these first class facilities. Visitors flock to the well appointed lodge room and suites and the glorious Stillwaters Spa & Salon, unveiled in 2007.

Then there are the ultra luxurious mountain log homes that border the golf course, and this isn’t just any golf course.

Blending tradition with a huge dose of talent, the Headwaters Golf Course is recognized by recreation golfers and golf professionals alike, to be a true masterpiece. Would stand to reason, this course was designed by the master himself, the legendary Byron Nelson.

Range diners will surely benefit from Chef Sordahl’s culinary talents & values which include operating his restaurants under a guiding principle of sustainability, his passion and farm-to-table approach to dining, and creating diverse menus of inspired dishes complimented by a well-versed wine list. Rick’s menu at the Range incorporates beef and pork from native ranches and farms and he plans to add fish specials to the menu on weekends.

Rick is not only a master in the kitchen, but he’s also a really nice guy. That probably explains why most of the gracious Headwaters Grille staff we’ve come to know and love over the years, will be staying on at the Range. Good for them and smart too. It’s not often we have the chance to hone our professional skills with a mentor like Rick Sordahl will undoubtedly be to the men and women of the Range. It’s on-the-job training on the true, but often elusive art, of running a great restaurant.

I’ve sampled some of Rick’s creations in the past and suffice to say; I would advise those who love great food to run, not walk, to the Range. At the soft opening a week or so ago, the reviews were stellar and the tables overflowing. During the winter season the Range operates Thursday-Saturday 5- 9 p.m. If current demand is any indication, I would always consider making a reservation – 208.787.8130.

Rick and his crew will also cater private parties, special group functions, weddings and the like, indoors and out, depending on the season. Insure your next get together with family, friends and co-workers is extra special. Work with the best – welcome to Teton Springs Chef Sordahl.

Bon appétit!
