March in Teton Valley Idaho
Posted by admin in Grand Teton Lodging, Scenic Drives, Skiing Packages, Snow in Idaho on March 4th, 2013
March in Teton Valley, Idaho – In Like a Lion, Out Like a Bigger Lion! Here in Teton Valley we rarely experience a March that fits the saying, “In like a lion, out like a lamb.” Thank goodness. The month of March in this Yellowstone-Teton territory is usually just more of the same as the months preceding it, powder days followed by even bigger powder days. However, this isn’t the norm. Most people in the great U.S. of A. celebrate the end of winter, and view this change of seasons as a time to finally get outdoors again.
There’s no doubt spring is rejuvenating – to feel the warmth of the sun on our face, watch the buds start to appear on trees, and temperatures heading in the right direction to warm winter-weary chilled bones. These same people pray that if March does indeed arrive with a roar that by the end of the month, winter is simply a distant memory.
But here in eastern Idaho, suffice to say there is definitely a genuine disdain for the arrival of spring. It’s generally accepted that in the year 2013, the waning days of winter are over and the start of spring officially begins March 20th. Official or not, die hard skiers and snowboarders in Teton Valley have the confidence in knowing Mother Nature doesn’t recognize, and certainly doesn’t respect, for what should happen with the onset of spring.

So Many Fun Winter Activities in the Teton Valley
Shifting sunlight is normally the criteria for when the beginning of spring is designated. Ah, light, it is the one component that local residents and visitors to Teton Valley alike embrace who cherish all things winter, like skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and backcountry adventures. In the Teton Mountains, spring simply means longer days, and thus, more play time.
Safe to say most Idaho resorts can’t touch the terrific winter vacation packages that Teton Springs Lodge & Spa offers. For example, lodging in their deluxe hotel and snowcat excursions at Grand Targhee.
Thank goodness Targhee had the vision back in the late 1980′s to take a huge chunk of their most pristine mountain terrain and set it aside as a private reserve for skiers and snowboarders hungry for an affordable & quality knee deep powder snow experience. Granted, Targhee had the unique luxury of owning (well, Forest Service Use Permits in this case but that’s practically like owning) two distinct mountains in Wyoming’s iconic Teton Mountains. So, the Wyoming cowboys in charge of this unassuming and totally charming destination resort created the ultimate slice of heaven on Peaked Mountain reserved just for the cats.
They also left plenty of lift served acreage to go around. As the sun is illuminating the Wyoming sky over Targhee’s quant village, anxious skiers and snowboarders board the
snowcats and chug up to the summit of Peaked Mountain. On a clear day, the Tetons are in full view and the
vistas are staggering. That alone is worth the price of admission.
The Place to Stay While Skiing Targhee or the Teton Village
Teton Springs also offers the option of traveling a short distance across Teton Pass for a day of sliding at the Jackson Hole ski area. Or, stay put at Teton Springs; there’s Nordic skiing and snowshoeing right outside your lodge door. Simply put, there’s no other resort destination in the lower 48 that offers the variety of unique ski and stay packages and other year-round adventures than what this charming boutique hotel offers. For that dynamic spring fling and some nice spring getaway packages, the best option going is their stay two nights and the third night is FREE, in any and all resort accommodations.

Welcome to Yellowstone-Teton territory, home to easily the best skiing and snowboarding and family ski vacations in North America. Spring can wait.
Skiing Knee Deep Powder with Blue Skies
Posted by admin in Grand Teton Lodging, Heli Skiing, Skiing Packages, Skiing Stay and Play Packages on February 14th, 2013
Skiing Knee Deep Powder with Blue Skies in the Teton Mountains let’s hope this isn’t just a dream!
News of the recent epic snowstorm in New England, and the destructive aftermath, has really been monopolizing the airwaves lately. This latest weather episode to rock the northeast was significant, no doubt about it. However, it always makes me smile when the national news covers this stuff for days on end. Here in the Tetons, an overnight storm dropping 24" of what the locals call "white gold" barely causes a stir. Of course, Teton Valley doesn’t in any shape or form resemble Boston Massachusetts or, any other American city for that major.
One obvious distinction that separates this relatively tiny hamlet of Teton Valley, Idaho, from anywhere USA, is the fact that heli skiing packages are available at Teton Springs Lodge & Spa, which sits nestled off Highway 33 in the south end of the valley. This boutique hotel is the centerpiece of the Teton Springs Resort and offers year-round visitors amazing activities. Winter guests delight in the hotels varied mix-and-match ski and stay packages, including the grand poobah of ski packages – that of heli skiing.
If a day of glorious turns in knee-deep powder, with deep blue skies overhead, mind-blowing Teton Mountain scenery and no lift lines appeals to your sensibilities, then heli skiing should indeed be on the agenda. High Mountain Hel Ski is the premier (and only) heli ski operator in the Tetons and Teton Springs couldn’t ask for a better partner in taking to the skies.
If a family ski vacation is on the docket, perhaps it’s a spring break trip. Teton Springs Lodge & Spa specializes in winter family vacations. The three, four and five bedroom mountain log cabins are luxurious in every way.
Guests are always pleasantly surprised just how affordable these places truly are, especially when they step foot into of these buffed-out cabins. Each home is unique, has literally everything you could possibly need, and more. They’re simply perfect for the family, and, roomy enough that friends can join the party too!
Teton Springs also lists Grand Targhee Resort as a partner in winter recreation, and, the last time I checked the measured snow depth at Targhee was the deepest of any area in the entire country. Not unusual for this Teton valley snow Mecca; they always post the big numbers!
There’s still plenty of time and winter left to book family ski packages to Teton Springs, with deals that include a complimentary night in the lodge, or in one of the sweet log cabins.
There’s Nordic skiing on the resort’s track, door-to-door guided snowmobile trips to Yellowstone National Park, snowshoe treks into the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. That’s just for starters. There are many Winter family activities in the Teton Valley and close by.
The atmosphere is homey and relaxed the staff genuine and this entire property screams quality. Guess that explains why Teton Springs Lodge & Spa was recently named the "Best Hotel in Idaho" by U.S. News & World Report for the second straight year. The final decision after reviewing over 2,000 luxury hotels in the United States was made by travel industry leaders and hotel guests. There’s no doubt these guys got it right – you be the judge.

Christmas – A Time for Joy – Peace and Love
Posted by admin in Grand Targhee Vacation Rentals, Grand Teton Lodging, Headwaters Grille, Luxury Mountain Cabins on December 27th, 2012
This holiday season feels different. There has been so much sadness in our country. Rather than focusing on the goodies under the tree bearing our name, I think it’s safe to say most of us will be thinking of the families in America who this year bear heavy hearts and unfathomable loss. I know I will be.

Spending time in the great outdoors is a most effective way to unleash our spiritual energy. The world seems to always make greater sense when we’re standing at the summit on any given peak in the Grand Tetons while taking in all the wonders of this glorious place. It reminds me that there is so much good in our universe. I especially love watching the families reunite during the holidays at Teton Springs Resort. They may be coming for the Christmas ski vacation packages but this special place holds other treasures, like simply being together as a family in an environment that is comforting, nurturing and stimulating.
Many Fun and Exciting Outdoor Activities
For many of us, a day exploring the great outdoors is more than just physical activity. It’s nourishment for the soul, and more importantly, a chance to leave our daily obsessions with technology and anything real world behind. It’s a time for self discovery and reflection, especially while on a hearty trek breathing in pure, clean mountain air. One can almost feel the stress drip from their shoulders like the fallen snow. Teton Springs Resort lies adjacent to the Caribou-Targhee National Forest so easy to quickly transform yourself into another world. A snowshoe or cross-country ski trip through this magical place promises a time of peace and reflection, and nothing will thrill a child more than spending time in the splendor of our precious planet. You may even spot a moose or two sharing your path. There are many outdoor activities while staying at Teton Springs, for everyone to enjoy.
Grand Targhee continues to live up to its impressive reputation for often having the best, and most, snow in North America this season.
The Best Skiing, the Best Snow, The Best Place to Stay – Teton Springs Lodge
Teton Springs specializes in ski packages with this Wyoming gem where powder runs are almost guaranteed and the scenery alone propels you into sensory overload. This small Wyoming area is a mere 30 minute drive from Teton Springs and now Targhee has arranged for someone else to do the driving. So, sit back, relax, and take in the sights from Teton Springs as you cross the state line into a corner of wild, wonderful Wyoming, where Targhee reigns supreme.
And, if you plan on ringing in the New Year at Teton Springs, hang a little later at Targhee that day & take in their annual Torchlight Parade and fireworks display. It’s a terrific way to say goodbye to 2012 and embrace the promises that only a brand new year can deliver. It all happens right after the lifts close so you’ll be back at Teton Springs in time for a New Year’s feast and celebration at the Headwaters Grille (need to check on availability; Headwaters will be hopping!)
Teton Springs specializes in snowboarding vacation packages, which also include options for snowcat skiing at Targhee, or, the once-in-a-lifetime powder experience only a heli ski excursion can deliver. There’s no fighting for powder lines on this trips, there’s plenty to go around!
Happy Holidays from your friends at Teton Springs Lodge & Spa. We look forward to many happy turns with you this season!
