“OFF SEASON” HAS A WHOLE NEW MEANING AT TETON SPRINGS RESORT!
I understand logically why the hospitality industry calls post summer, specifically October and November, the “off” season, aka the “shoulder” season. Now granted, shoulder season will definitely vary according to the travel spot you’re eyeballing. But for the majority of the universe, the fall season is when business tends to slow way down in most destination areas. Kids head back to school so mom and dad are distracted by soccer games, PTO meetings, homework and trying to concoct that perfect Lady Gaga Halloween costume. However, if you don’t fall into the parent category, or for responsible moms and dads who can break away weekends with the kids in tow, there’s no better time to travel in what I personally like to refer to as the “on” season!
The law of “supply and demand” dictates that you’re almost guaranteed better value, in just about every category, when your travel schedule is opposite of the tour bus crowd. Air fares are more reasonable and lodging at just about every destination hotel and resort is not only available for the taking but suddenly delightfully more affordable. I also find the service element more enhanced as well; the “locals” now have more time to give the personalized attention we all cherish as travelers. In fact, at most places in the slow off season, the staff even seem to crave the interaction with out-of-towners. This is the time of year when secrets are divulged, and despite being a visitor, you’re suddenly an insider. There’s also room to spread out in the hot tubs!
Teton Springs Lodge & Spa, in the village center of Teton Springs Community, is now in the throes of the “shoulder” season. Granted, the Headwaters Golf Club is put to bed so that the staff can prepare this award-winning course for its winter hibernation. But the Lodge, Stillwaters Spa and Salon & Headwaters Grille are all standing at attention and you couldn’t ask for a more spectacular time of year to be in this Yellowstone-Teton region. Mother Nature continues to smile on Teton Valley and kisses us with day after day with sunny skies, moderate temps, and brilliant fall colors unlike anything I’ve witnessed in years. It’s a light jacket for an afternoon mountain bike ride and for that breathtaking hike into the adjacent Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Just don’t get so caught up taking in the fall foliage that you miss seeing the resident moose with her calf trotting up the golf course. The trout in our ponds are also less wary so be sure to pack that fly rod, and for the die-hard fishermen, there’s literally no better time than now to fish our local rivers. We’ll even tell you what flies to bring!
So, if you’re one of the lucky ones who can travel during this more mellow, but no less worthy time of year, it’s optimum timing for that road trip. And, in keeping with the spirit and tradition of the “off season,” Teton Springs Lodge & Spa would love to pamper you with incredible value-added packages. A few of my favorites:
“STAY & DINE” PKG: $78. per person (dbl occupancy) – NOW thru 12- 16th
- One night lodging in a deluxe Lodge Room (always ask about affordable upgrades to a one bedroom suite!)
- Two course dinner at Headwaters Grille – soup/salad/entrée/coffee or tea
“FALL INTO THE SPA” PKG: $169 per person (dbl occupancy) – NOW thru 12-16
- One night lodging in a deluxe Lodge room (only $25 upgrade to suite!)
- 60 minute Deep Tissue or Swedish Message (a Facial would work too!)
- Full Continental Breakfast
- Day Spa passes
Be sure to check out the other amazing offers. Winter is right around the corner. How does heli skiing directly from Teton Springs sound?
Remember, it’s always the “on season” here at Teton Springs Resort!
I have always loved Mother’s Day. While I don’t have children fawning all over me on this special day honoring mothers, I simply feel that this special day deservedly belongs to all women. I know in my heart that if my Golden Retriever could serve me breakfast in bed she certainly would, assisted by her faithful companion, and my other baby, Bob the cat. I guess the point is; it’s not a stretch for anyone to bask in the glow of Mother’s Day.
The staff at the Stillwaters Spa & Salon at Teton Springs Lodge in Victor, Idaho feels the same way and are experts in the art of pampering. When you walk into this Spa just the aroma itself tells you you’ve entered a place of peace & tranquility. It’s a refuge if you will, from the outside world and all its woes. Located on the ground floor of the Lodge, the 5,000 square-foot Stillwaters Spa & Salon’s goal is providing its guests complete relaxation and rejuvenation. In fact, guests often begin and end their treatment, set within this glorious alpine setting, in the tranquil Relaxation Zen Garden. The spa features a full menu of massage treatment options including deep tissue, sports and injury management, yoga and pregnancy massages. Other treatment favorites include reflexology, aromatherapy, paraffin wax therapy and hot stone treatments.
There are my personal spa favorites. After a long Rocky Mountain winter, where dry skin is a given environmental hazard, how delightful does a “hydraquench body wrap” sound? You have no idea! I’ll give you a hint. It involves a body buff, a thick application of organic whipped Shea butter, you’re then cocooned in a herbal wrap of ingredients designed to sooth muscles and steeped in a tea bath. If you’re still of this world, you’ll delight in the cool stone facial massage and neck massage that follows while your feet rest on warm stones.
Springtime also means exposing our toes and hands to the world once again. The Stillwaters Spa is featuring a special on a Paraffin Treatment for hands and feet – for the whole month of May – only $40 (or as an add-on to any manicure or pedicure for only $10!). Ecofin Wax, blended with organic essential oils and Shea butter, offers unique benefits besides being a superb relaxing therapy: will soften and moisturize skin and is an excellent treatment for stiff and arthritic joints. BRING OUT THE SANDALS!
